At the Intersection of Education and Law

Holly Fudge is a former elementary school teacher turned law student who shares her drive and passion with us.

1. What is one sentence you would use to describe who you are and what you do?

I am a former first grade teacher who has an interest in education law.

2. Did you take the GRE? If so, what was your experience studying for the GRE like?

I did not take the GRE, but I took the LSAT. The process of studying was good. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and did a lot of practice tests.

3. Why did you decide to go to grad school? What program did you attend? How did you choose your specific program?

I decided to go to law school because I had watched my dad as he completed law school, and I wanted to challenge myself in the same way. I am currently in my third year at the University of Dayton School of Law.

4. How do you anticipate your graduate degree will impact your career?

I believe my law degree will give me a lot of opportunities to help students and families, especially if I land a job in special education law. I was chosen to be published in my school’s Law Review journal that I wrote about ability grouping in the elementary classroom and its disparate impact on minority students, and I would like to write more articles about similar topics.

5. What advice do you wish you had received before starting law school?

My advice would be to try to avoid all the pressure to be the best and focus on your own personal goals instead.
