About half of the questions on this section are, in essence, vocabulary questions. So the more words you know or recognize, the more prepared you will be to kick ass on Verbal. There are plenty of places to find potential GRE words, but don’t overlook the regular reading you do. Whenever you come across a word you don’t know in an article or book, look up the definition, and add it to your list of words to study!

Here is a list of 18 GRE Vocab words to get you started:
Repudiate — Verb. Refuse to accept or be associated with; deny the truth or validity of.
Recapitulate — Verb. Summarize and state again the main points of.
Facetious — Adjective. Treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant; glib.
Duplicity — Noun. 1. Deceitfulness; double-dealing. 2. Doubleness (archaic definition).
Jettison — Verb. throw or drop (something) from an aircraft or ship; abandon or discard.
Pernicious — Adjective. Having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way.
Salubrious — Adjective. Health-giving; healthy.
Discomfiting — Verb. Make (someone) feel uneasy or embarrassed.
Infallible — Incapable of making mistakes or being wrong. Never failing; always effective.
Expedient — Adjective. (of an action) Convenient and practical although possibly improper or immoral. Noun. a means of attaining an end, especially one that is convenient but considered improper or immoral.
Imminent — Adjective. About to happen.
Remedial — Adjective. Giving or intended as a remedy or cure. Provided or intended for students who are experiencing learning difficulties.
Injudicious — Adjective. Showing very poor judgment; unwise.
Defamatory — Adjective. (of remarks, writing, etc.) Damaging the good reputation of someone; slanderous or libelous.
Calumnious — Adjective. (of a statement) False and defamatory; slanderous.
Inveigle — Verb. Persuade (someone) to do something by means of deception or flattery.
Timorous — Adjective. Showing or suffering from nervousness, fear, or a lack of confidence.
Diffident — Adjective. Modest or shy because of a lack of self-confidence.
